I am a 76 year old lady and on 6th April 2021 I had a replacement hip operation at the Nuffield Health Cambridge carried out by Mr Andrew Carrothers privately. I have no hesitation in recommending him and after eight weeks I am walking reasonably well and very pleased to have had the operation and believe the cost was worth it.

I first saw Dr Carrothers in Autumn 2020 when I was in severe pain in my right knee, so much so that my lifestyle of running a family, dogs and enjoying regular exercise was being very much curtailed due to the level of pain I was experiencing. At the age of 42, I was despairing that that was now my life. Dr Carrothers operated on my knee to repair a torn miniscus and flush out the arthritis and generally tidy up my worn out knee. However, my knee remained very swollen and very sore and I feared that the only remaining option was a replacement. After consultation with Dr Carrothers, we agreed to try a PRP injection in March 2021. The results have been tremendous. Two months on, I can now walk my (very largeand boisterous) dogs for an unlimited time over rough farmland, up hills, in slippery conditions without any pain at all: this would have been impossible before my treatment. I can do yoga again (listening to any signs of pain and missing out moves which particularly stress the knee joints), I can run after my children and I can dance around my kitchen again! I am delighted. Rather than facing a prosthetic knee, I now plan to monitor my knee and hopefully control it with future PRP injections when needed. I highly and wholeheartedly recommend Dr Carrothers and PRP injections.

From the first time I met Mr Carrothers at the end of March 2021 I was completely comfortable with him. I had checked out his website, reviews and read everything possible about him online. He was kind, knowledgeable, honest, straightforward, and thorough. Mr Carrothers takes the doctor/patient relationship seriously and I didn’t have any issues. He walked me through every aspect of the procedure, and answered any questions with grace. He performed my Mako left hip replacement on April 13th and did it very well! I am amazed at how quickly I have recovered. I was reviewed on May 21st and am delighted to be pain free, walking well and looking forward to playing better golf! I would highly recommend Carrothers Orthopaedics to anyone in need of a consultation, management or surgery. I must also mention his exceptionally efficient secretary, Carol, who organises everything to run so smoothly. I am so grateful to all concerned.

I was thrilled when Carol - PA to Mr Carrothers called me to say Mr Carrothers could do my second hip replacement. I cannot praise Mr Carrothers and his whole team enough. They have been marvellous. Mr Carrothers has given me back my life. I can now walk pain free and upright! Mr Carrothers is the most caring and understanding consultant, putting me at ease with his cheery nature, which was most welcome due to me feeling anxious about the operation. I highly recommend Mr Carrothers and I am extremely grateful and truly thankful for all he has done for me.

Mako Hip Replacement. I am a Lump of a Man, 6 ft 7 tall and 21 stone. I had been told in the past that I was too large for a replacement hip. And so on visiting Mr Carrothers for my consultation I was worried how he would react to my size. I need not have worried, he has been great. Mr Carrothers put me at ease from the start to the end of the process. I told him at our first meeting that I wanted Great Care and I can honestly say that is what I have had. Its now 6 weeks since I had the replacement and I am walking unaided and pain free. I do get tired but every day I can walk further. Today I even had a spring in my step. I wish I had had not waited as long as I did to get this operation done. Mr Carrothers was recommended to me and I would love to pass that recommendation on to others. I would like to also to take this opportunity to thank Mr Carrothers and his staff for all there help.
